Lessons from Superman - #3

“Rocketed to Earth from the doomed planet Krypton, the baby Kal-El was found and raised by Jonathan and Martha Kent in Smallville, Kansas.  Now an adult, Clark Kent crosses the United States looking to rediscover Truth, Justice, & the American Way as…Superman.”

In the Superman comics today, Superman is currently walking across the nation in an attempt to find out exactly what he is supposed to do with his life.  In a sense, he has become lost, despite the many talents that he possesses and the number of good deeds he does on a regular basis.  Isn’t this crazy?!  I just sit here questioning, “A guy like Superman is questioning what it is he supposed to do with his life?  Really?!”  All things considered, Superman is currently going through a tough time and he’s facing some kind of depression.  His story can be a little bit difficult to read right now.

Nevertheless, in Superman issue #708 Superman makes some progress.  He comes in contact with a few distant relatives from the future (bare with me.  I know this seems a little outside of the box).  These “Super relatives” (pun intended) take him to the “Fortress of Solidarity,” which is basically a hidden fortress where Superman and all of his relatives throughout time can come and be together.  He isn’t able to stay too long however, because he could alter the future.  But during his visit to the "Fortress of Solidarity," he’s asked one simple question:

“Must there be a Superman?  If the answer is ‘yes,’ then all that you see around you will be the result.  The universe will ALWAYS have a Superman to protect it, until the end of time and beyond.  If the answer is ‘no,’ then your legacy ends with you.  The choice is yours to make.”

The truth is, even Superman faces some extremely challenging times, and some of his biggest trials can’t be solved using the many talents that he possesses.  We all face challenging times, but no matter what obstacles we face in life, and no matter how big, or how small they are, there is always someone there to support you.  And not only that, but you’ll always have the power to CHOOSE.

So utilize your most powerful super power; the power of CHOICE, and remember nothing can stop your power to CHOOSE.  And remember, there are people who care about you, and they too are impacted by the choices you make.  You're not alone.  Thank goodness for family and friends.

“The choice is yours to make.”  Be a Superman or Superwoman, and let your legacy live on.
