YOU CAN LIVE YOUR DREAM!!!

Need a pick me up?  Watch this video.  Watch it all the way through.  It's tough.  It's a tough one to get through (at least it was for me), but it's worth it.  The Transformers and Man of Steel scores going on in the background certainly make this one an epic listen, but I'm telling you, there are some excellent thoughts shared within in this video.

"Those experiencing hardships...don't give up on your dreams."

"You've invested so much time in them, you don't know who you are.  I challenge you to spend time with yourself."

"It's very important for you to believe...that you are the one."

"For people who are running toward their dreams, life has a special kind of meaning."

"The world will never be same because you came this way!"

"You can live your dream!"

I gotta believe in me...we all got to believe in ourselves.

This is how winning is done.

I've posted this before, and I'll probably post it again.  I think it's important to remember how winning is done.  It's done by moving forward, no matter how tough things get.  "...keep moving forward." ~Rocky

Lessons from Superman - #4

It's been awhile since I've posted anything on lessons I've learned from Superman comics.  This one's kinda fun.

In issue #10 of the Adventures of Superman, a little girl by the name of Connie writes a letter to Superman telling him she's been his "...biggest fan since forever."  She goes on to explain why and all the details align with an epic battle he's having.  "You can fly...you can see through walls...And you never give up, no matter what."  At the end of the battle, Superman makes a pit stop to visit Connie.

"Now of course you all know that there are rules to being a superhero.

Rule #1: You need a costume, preferably with a cape. Done.

Rule #2: You need a codename.  Personally, I like Connie Courageous.

Rule #3: You have to be ready to fly off and have adventures at any time of day or night.

So, are you ready to go?" ~Superman

What's the lesson here you ask?  Well, it seems to me that it's pretty simple to be a superhero.  We just gotta have a costume, a SUPER name, and be willing to take off on an adventure at any point.  So I ask you, "...are you ready to go?"  What will your adventure be today, this week, this month?

Time - The Only True Possession We Have

Time.  It is the one and only possession we have.  It isn't money.  It isn't your house, or your car.  It's time.  And the question is, how do you want to spend it?  I find the video below to be completely mind-boggling.  The fact that we spend many of our days commuting, sleeping, and doing "...other bathroom related activities" alone is terrifying.  Seriously, it's frightening to see how much time we truly have to spend with those we love and doing the things we want to do when we account for all the other things that take our attention.  And then when we do have time to focus on the things we enjoy, we waste it...

I sat in a meeting today and everyone at the meeting agreed that we overwork, but we all felt there was nothing we could do about it.  "It is what it is."  Good golly do I dislike that phrase.  Sometimes, "it is what it is," but "it is what it is" because we CHOOSE to make "it what it is."  Why not start taking actions towards changing it?  If one person leads, another will follow, right?  Then another.  Then another.  Then another until we all change.  Let's stop overworking and focusing on what is truly important.

I digress.... The bottom line is:

How do you want to spend YOUR TIME?
Maybe it's TIME we start focusing on what's truly important to us.

You know who's awesome?! - #5

This guy:

Love him, or dislike him greatly, you got to respect Peyton Manning.  Peyton has become quite possibly my favorite player to watch, root for, and look up to.  No matter what the outcome on Sunday, I will definitely be proud of this quarterback.  He's had a record-breaking season and has maintained a level head the entire time.

"I try to do my job each week, whether that's the regular season or playoffs.  Everybody's got to do their part.  To win in these situations, it's gotta be a team win.  I'm counting on everybody to do their role.  And I've got to do my part." ~ Peyton Manning

Peyton knows he's not the only one who brought the Denver Broncos to Super Bowl XLVIII.  It was the effort of every player on the team.  That's what makes Peyton so great.  It's his integrity and determination.

"If nothing else in life, I want to be true to the things I believe in, and quite simply, to what I'm all about.  I know I'd better, because it seems whenever I take a false step or two, I feel the consequences." ~ Peyton Manning

Again, win or lose this Sunday, I'm extremely proud of this guy.  He is creating his own legacy, something we should all consider doing.

Here's to one awesome dude!  Go get 'em on Sunday Mr. Manning!

Real Heroes are Ordinary People who Choose to be Extraordinary

"Ordinary people change the world.  That's how it's always been.  So never forget the power that's within you." ~ Brad Meltzer

I think it's easy to forget the power we possess.  Within each and everyone of us is the power to choose.  We choose our attitude.  We choose our goals.  We choose how we want to impact the world.  One of the quotes that comes to my mind a lot lately comes from Robin Williams in the movie the Dead Poets Society.  "The powerful play goes on, and you can contribute a verse.  What will your verse be?"

Remember, "Ordinary people change the world."  That's you and me.  We just have to choose how we want to.  We have to choose to be extraordinary.

Take Flight!

Let's face it: we all want to fly.  And we all fall.  But that's how we grow stronger.

"You've grown stronger than I ever could have imagined.  The only way to know how strong is to keep testing your limits...in time, you will help them accomplish wonders." ~ Jor-El, Superman's father.

I love this clip.  It gives me the chills every time I watch.  "Keep testing your limits..."  Take flight.  Let's accomplish wonders.  :)
